I have no stake in Columbus, but as somebody mentioned something about not stopping at the statues, then we have to tear down the entire world - at least the edifices of every government OR religion that ever fucked over another people, either foreign or indigenous.

I got news for you, the entire earth as it is was commissioned and paid for by mice as an experiment to discover the the correct way to ask the question of the meaning of life, the Universe and everything.

 

What happened over 500 years ago hardly deserves the attention.
Columbus is dead.
His sins are long done and have no impact on events of today.
The celebration of Columbus is about the exploration of the Americas and the eventual founding of the US.

 

But we should honor him? Why are we doing that 500 years later if what he did doesn't
matter?
